Kokomo School Corporation All Schools Education Fair set for Feb. 13

The official kickoff for the 2018-2019 Kokomo School Corporation early enrollment is the annual Kokomo All Schools Education Fair Tuesday, Feb. 13th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Gym (at the intersection of Apperson Way and Superior Street) in downtown Kokomo.

From 5 to 7 p.m. school information will be shared at the early enrollment fair for students in Grades K through 12, as well as 3-, 4- and 5-year-old preschool students. The Education Fair will include school displays and activities, as well as computers on site to complete online early enrollment.

Early childhood parents are welcome during the All School Education Fair, but a separate Kokomo Schools Kindergarten & Early Childhood Education Roundup will offer specific information for early childhood students Feb. 27th, 2018. Community partners who support our preschools also will be present.

Interested parents and/or guardians of all prospective and returning students are invited to tour our schools during Tour Week following the Education Fair. No reservations are necessary. Kokomo Schools welcomes everyone to come see the students and teachers in action on the following dates: 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21st and Thursday, Feb. 22nd.  Parent Night meetings are scheduled at all Kokomo schools so parents can ask questions about the various program offerings. Parent meeting dates and times are listed in the Kokomo Schools 2018-2019 Education Guide.

Preschool opportunities for Kokomo area students are available at Head Start (Darrough Chapel Early Learning Center), as well as at school-based sites at 6 elementary locations – Boulevard STEM; Elwood Haynes Neighborhood; Lafayette Park International; Pettit Park Technology Academy; and NEW for 2018-2019, Sycamore International and Bon Air Technology Academy.

Kokomo Schools includes 7 elementary (K-5) schools and 3 middle (6-8) schools, as each school offers unique opportunities.  At the elementary level, the following programs – Neighborhood, Technology Academy, International Baccalaureate (IB), STEM, KEY (Gifted & Talented), and Integrated Arts – are available, while our middle schools offer Technology Academy, International, KEY, STEM, and Integrated Arts. Career Schools (for 8th graders) are offered at both Bon Air and Maple Crest.

Parents are reminded that if they are interested in applying for one of the Kokomo Schools Magnet School programs – International Baccalaureate, Integrated Arts, KEY, and one of the 8th-grade Career schools – students must enroll by March 24th to be eligible for early acceptance.

At Kokomo High School, students can choose several pathways within the rigorous College Prep Program (which features 25 AP Courses), including the International Baccalaureate Academy (IB Middle Years Program, IB Diploma Program, IB Career Related Diploma Program), the STEM Academy, and the K-Tech Academy.

The best place to ask questions about all of Kokomo School Corporation’s unique opportunities is at the Kokomo All Schools Education Fair on Feb. 13th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Gym. Kokomo Schools wants to help parents find the educational program that best fits each of their students’ learning styles.

We also encourage parents to visit our schools during Tour Week and give Kokomo Schools the opportunity to provide your students with a quality educational experience for the 2018-2019 school year.
